About Materialscape
Vancouver-based Michelle Allard negotiates processes of accumulation and transition by employing cardboard, plastics, packaging and shipping-related materials in the creation of elaborate sculptures and installations that call to mind spectacular mineral formations. Like a form of baroque geology, Allard’s works reside somewhere between ornament and practical abstraction. Allard will be in residence for two weeks in January to produce Materialscape for the Eastman Gallery. Check back often for more information on events and programs related to this residency.
